The duration of the hair transplantation procedure varies for each individual patient. Patients with fewer grafts experience a shorter procedure time. For instance, a patient requiring approximately 3,500 grafts, with no additional complications, can expect an average procedure duration of 6 hours.

During the hair transplant procedure, the initial step involves extracting hair follicles from the richly vascularized tissue and preserving them under specific external conditions. These hair follicles are stored in a specialized liquid at a controlled, cool temperature. Outside the body, grafts can maintain viability for approximately 6 to 8 hours. Once removed from the liquid, swift grafting is imperative to ensure they remain moist, as prolonged exposure can lead to a decline in vitality. The viability ratio of grafts decreases by 10-20% every hour after the initial 6-8 hours.

Currently, the most effective technique for hair grafting is the Micro-Fue method, recognized as the golden standard by the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery(ISHRS). Male Pattern Hair Loss

Male pattern hair loss typically begins with a recession on the temples or thinning of the hair on the crown, and in some cases, it progresses with gradual thinning, followed by complete loss at the top. Hair at the back of the head and above the ears is rarely lost, but men aged above seventy might as well experience hair loss in these areas. Both the Hamilton and Norwood Scales classify androgenetic hair loss in men. Three causal factors causing androgenetic hair loss are: genetic susceptibility, the presence of androgenic hormones, and the patient’s age. Male pattern hair loss is predominantly inherited from the mother and grandfather. During puberty, the majority of androgenic hormones circulate in the body, causing genetically programmed hair (in the scale areas) to produce thinner and shorter hairs in each new hair growth cycle. Female Pattern Hair Loss

Female pattern hair loss appears with a diffuse thinning in the frontal and crown areas of the scalp (Ludwig Model), rarely spreading to the back and sides. Gaps appear wider, and the scalp is more pronounced in the frontal and central points of the head. This is a slow and gradual process, rarely covering the entire area. Androgenetic hair loss in women typically begins with hormonal changes during puberty, pregnancy, or postmenopausal stages and is quite common in women over 80 years old. Although no apparent hair loss is linked to this form of shedding, prolonged and excessive shedding (Telogen Effluvium) preceding this condition may develop. Androgenetic hair loss has three causal factors: age, heredity, and the presence of the male hormone. Postmenopausal thinning is associated with a decrease in estrogen.

FUE Hair Transplantation:

The “FUE” hair transplantation technique is the most preferred method today.

With the “FUE” technique, hair follicles are extracted from the patient’s occipital area, using surgical blades with a thickness of 0.6-0.7 mm, known as punches, and then transplanted into the specified areas. Following the transplantation procedure, the transplanted hair follicles begin to grow immediately. Micro-incisions in the occipital area typically heal within 48 hours. On the third day after the procedure, you can return to work, and on the tenth day, resume your normal lifestyle. The technique is referred to as “Micro FUE” due to the micro-sized surgical instruments used during the procedure.

How is Hair Transplantation – FUE Performed?

8. Based on the number of grafts and the direction of their placement, microchannels are opened in the area where the hair will be grafted.

9. The healthy hair follicles, taken from the nape area, are individually grafted into the open microchannels.

10. After the procedure, antibiotic and pain relief treatment are applied to the patient.

11. On the following day after the procedure, bandages are removed in the hospital, and necessary dressings are applied.

12. On the third day after the procedure, the first hair wash is conducted at the hospital. During this visit, the patient receives detailed information about the subsequent recovery period.

13. Hair should be continually washed once per day, with the same manner as shown in the first wash, until the tenth day after the procedure.

14. When you come in for a check-up on the 10th day after the procedure, the scabs that have formed around the newly grafted hair must be completely shed; if not, our doctor removes them at the hospital.
