Ferudun BIKMAZ-EN, PATIENT STORIES

41 Kg Is Gone Along With High BP and Diabetes: Sleeve Gastrectomy

Mr. Atanas Ivanov Bozhinov, from Bulgaria, contacted our International Patient Services department upon encountering our social media posts. He disclosed struggles with obesity-related issues and elevated blood sugar level, impacting his daily activities.

Following discussions, a consultation was arranged with our Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Specialist, Dr. Ferudun Bıkmaz. Subsequently, Mr. Bozhinov underwent detailed examinations in our hospital.

Dr. Bikmaz recommended “Sleeve Gastrectomy” based on our patient’s condition. During routine preoperative ultrasound, inflamed gallbladder and gallstones blocking the bile duct were identified. Performing a Laparoscopic Surgery addressing both issues simultaneously was decided.

After approval from our specialists from different fields, the surgery proceeded, involving gallbladder removal followed by Sleeve Gastrectomy. Following a successful surgery, Mr. Bozhinov stayed under medical observation for 5 days, receiving guidance from our Dietician, Cigdem Kiral.

Upon completion of follow-up, Mr. Bozhinov was discharged in good condition. Five months after the surgery, he reported a weight loss of 41 kilograms and no longer required medication for high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes. His previous difficulties in daily activities are now resolved.

We wish Mr. Bozhinov a happy and healthy future ahead.
